IAFF Local 2270 Donates 250 Smoke Detectors

KINGSPORT,TN- Kingsport Firefighters Association Local 2270 donated 250 smoke detectors to the Kingsport Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Bureau.  The additional alarms put the KFD over their goal or collecting 500 smoke detectors for distribution to residents.  “These smoke detectors were purchased through our fundraiser. The Kingsport Firefighters Association hosts two concerts per year which helps our association support a wide range of charitable organizations as well as fire safety information, coloring books and smoke detectors. The Kingsport Firefighters Association would like to thank the community for their continued support. ,” said Matthew Sorge, President of the Kingsport Firefighters Association.

Since 2006, the Kingsport Fire Department has distributed over 18,000 smoke detectors free to the public and installed many in the homes of Kingsport residents.
