Fire Alarm Notifies Firefighters of Smoke in Dallas Bay Baptist Church

HAMILTON COUNTY, TN- January 12, 2010. Submitted by Amy Maxwell. At 8:06 pm, 9-1-1 dispatcher receives a call from a Alarm System Company reporting heavy smoke detected at Dallas Bay Baptist Church and the adjacent Youth Building (8305 Daisy Dallas Road) Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived on the scene within a minute reporting moderate smoke in the attic of the Youth Building and the smell of smoke in the Main Church building. Dallas Bay VFD called. Soddy Daisy Fire Department for additional manpower to assist them with the two buildings. Firefighters conducted an extensive search in both buildings for any signs of fire and also used large fans to ventilated the buildings. According the Chief Marcus Fritts, Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department confirmed a power surge had occurred around the Hixson Pike and Dalton Lane area that hit the Main Church Building and the Youth Building. No injuries were reported.
