Johnson City Firefighters Quickly Extinguish Residential Fire
JOHNSON CITY, TN- January 11th, 2010. There was little rest for Johnson City firefighters Monday night with simultaneous and back-to-back fire calls in freezing weather — including one house fire that claimed three family pets. The first fire call of the evening went out at 6:23 p.m. and sent firefighters to 1503 E. Myrtle Ave. where Williams Haws was home alone.
According to Johnson City Fire Chief Mark Finucane, Haws had a water leak in his house and was going to the basement and back upstairs to check on the leak. On his second trip back upstairs, Haws found his kitchen on fire, Finucane said.
